This leg is one for red wine lovers. From the romantic wine village of Walporzheim, this leg leads you past the red wine metropolis of Ahrweiler to the chic spa town of Bad Neuenahr.
Before the start of the leg, the Roman Villa museum (Römervilla) is well worth a visit, as is the government documentation site in Ahrweiler.
From the hiking car park in Walporzheim the route starts through shady woods past Calvarienberg Abbey through vineyards to the Lourdes chapel. Past the Karlsberg observation point and through the Neuenahr forest to the forest climbing park. Then the 3km marked path leads downhill towards Bad Neuenahr. Large parks and stunning town villas start to appear.
